OUR TEAM

Alexander Fine, Esq.

Alexander Fine, Esq. is a seasoned attorney with over five decades of experience in the legal profession. A proud graduate of LIU Brooklyn, he earned his degree in January 1969. While simultaneously serving in the 42nd Infantry Division of the Army National Guard, he pursued his legal studies at Brooklyn Law School, where he received his Juris Doctor in May 1972. He was admitted to the New York State Bar in February 1973, marking the beginning of what would become a distinguished legal career.

Alexander began practicing law at Richman & Rivera in the Bronx, New York, where he built a strong foundation in criminal defense, civil litigation, and matrimonial law. As an attorney on the 18B and Surrogate’s Court panels, he provided legal representation for indigent clients in criminal matters and handled probate and administration issues. Concurrently, he volunteered with Queens Legal Services, where he represented indigent clients pro bono.

Later, he co-founded his own firm, Fine & Bassik, continuing his general law practice while expanding his expertise into areas such as residential and commercial real estate, automobile accident cases, and slip-and-fall negligence matters. In 2024, Alexander began a new chapter in his career, forming Fine Hiller Law with his daughter, Stefanie Fine Hiller. Together, they established a family-operated firm dedicated to providing compassionate and skilled representation across a variety of legal matters. He takes great pride in mentoring his daughter and guiding the firm into its next generation.

Throughout his career, Alexander has achieved numerous professional milestones. One of his most memorable accomplishments includes securing a decision from the New York Court of Appeals, where a BCL 702 ruling was reversed and remanded in favor of a minority shareholder—an unprecedented outcome at the time. He also represented the girlfriend of a mafia boss, depicted in the film Goodfellas, who was subpoenaed to testify before a Federal Grand Jury. In another notable case, he successfully defended a prominent New York City jewelry fence and refiner against charges related to negligence and possession of stolen property, arguing that his client had maintained proper record-keeping for valuable jewels in his possession.

With over a half-century of legal practice, Alexander’s dedication to his clients, combined with his breadth of knowledge across diverse legal fields, has earned him a sterling reputation. Today, as he co-leads Fine Hiller Law, he continues to bring his wealth of experience and deep commitment to justice to every client interaction, ensuring the firm’s legacy for years to come.
